Shower Screens

At Bunbury City Glass we offer a variety of shower screens.

We can customise your shower screen in any shape or style to suit any bathroom style. Choose from clear or obscured glass. Choose any style of frame or semi-frame, with coloured surrounds to match your décor; or choose the elegant simplicity of the frameless screen.

And while you're choosing a shower screen, why not choose a mirror to match?

Order Processing

At Bunbury City Glass we specialise in making and fitting your new shower screens as quickly as possible.  We take your phone order and arrange a mutually convenient appointment time. Our trades people will come to your home and measure your shower base or bath and verify your requirements. A quote is given verbally and a written quote is provided as soon as possible by email or fax as per your instructions. Once your deposit has been received, we process your order.  As soon as the glass arrives at our factory, your shower screen is put together. One of our tradesmen will call you and arrange a convenient time for the installation.  Mirrors can also be made at the same time, in matching frame colours.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get someone out for a free measure & quote?

To get someone out to your home (in the local area) for a free measure & quote on Shower Screens, Splashbacks, Mirrors and Balustrading usually takes from two to three working days.

From time of order, how long does it take for my Shower Screen to be installed?

Due to the various processing procedures of the glass to ensure the highest quality of design and safety, it takes between ten to twelve working days from time of order to install your Shower Screen.

How long does it physically take to install a Shower Screen?

It takes between one and three hours to install a Shower Screen depending on the complexity.

How long before I can use my shower after the install?

To allow for the Silicon to fully set it is recommended to leave the screen for 24 hrs before use.

What needs to be ready before we can measure?

All tiles need to be in place before we can measure up for a shower screen. In the case of kitchen splashbacks, the bench-top and range-hood both need to be installed.

Q: What's better - toughened or laminated glass?

Toughened glass shatters into tiny chunks when it breaks. Laminated and wired glass develops cracked lines when broken. The hardiest glass would be toughened, followed by laminated.

Q: What is the difference between semi-frameless and fully framed shower screens?

A: A semi-frameless shower screen has toughened glass that has been cut to size, polished, and put through a heat process. A fully framed screen uses laminated glass that can be cut to size.

Q: Why can't I get rid of mould?

A: The longer water sits inside the shower screen, the more likely mould will occur. Silicone is mould resistant but can still develop mould when spores and water are together in your shower. Sometimes the mould is actually behind the silicone and not in it! When the mould on the glazing vinyl is a reddish colour, it may in fact not be mould. Bleach and hair dye can change the colour of the glazing vinyl.

Q: Why can't you match the glass in my screen?

A: The Australian Standards require that only approved safety glass can be placed in shower screens. Some of the older screens have glass that has now been removed from the safety glass register, e.g. Diamond and Para line. Amber glass is no longer available as the manufacturing process involved very toxic substances.

Q: Can I re-use an old screen?

A: Sometimes it is possible to refit your own screen after a renovation as long as the glass is approved safety glass. Note that toughened glass cannot be cut.

Q: What is the thickness of the glass used in Shower Screens?

A: Laminated glass is 6.38mm thick. Toughened glass is usually 5 mm thick.

Q: I have a leaking shower but don't know exactly where the leak is coming from. What can be done?

A: We can only help stop leaks where the leak is coming between the frame and the tiles or base. If there is a crack in the base or the tiles, or where the leak is behind the tile work, then you will need a plumber or specialized tradesman.
