Frequently asked questions
Q: How long does it take to get someone out for a free measure & quote?
A: To get someone out to your home (in the local area) for a free measure & quote on Shower Screens, Splashbacks, Mirrors and Sliding Robe doors, usually takes from two to three working days.
Q: From time of order, how long does it take for my Shower Screen to be installed?
A: Due to the various processing procedures of the glass to ensure the highest quality of design and safety, it takes between twelve to fourteen working days from time of order to install your Shower Screen.
Q: How long does it physically take to install a Shower Screen?
A: It takes between one and three hours to install a Shower Screen depending on the complexity.
Q: How long before I can use my shower after the install?
A: To allow for the Silicon to fully set it is recommended to leave the screen for 24 hrs before use.
Q: What needs to be ready before we can measure?
A: All tiles need to be in place before we can measure up for a shower screen. In the case of kitchen splashbacks, the bench-top and range-hood both need to be installed.
Q: What's better - toughened or laminated glass?
A: Both glasses are classed as A grade safety glasses. Toughened glass shatters into tiny chunks when it breaks. Laminated glass develops cracked lines when broken.
Q: What is the difference between semi-frameless and fully framed shower screens?
A: A semi-frameless shower screen has a frame at the top, the bottom and both sides. The glass that has been cut to size, polished, and toughened. A fully framed screen has a frame around every piece of glass and then around all the pieces and has laminated or toughened glass that can be cut to size. Come in and see our display.
Q: Why can't I get rid of mould?
A: Mould will occur where there is moisture. The longer water sits inside the shower screen, the more likely mould will occur. Silicone is mould resistant but can still develop mould when spores and water are together in your shower. Sometimes the mould is actually behind the silicone and not in it!
Q: Why can't you match the glass in my screen?
A: Sometimes the pattern or colour of glass is no longer available. The Australian Standards have also changed over time and they require that only approved safety glass can be placed in shower screens. Some of the older screens have glass that does not meet Australian Standards, so we are not able to replace them.
Q: Can I re-use an old screen?
A: Sometimes it is possible to refit your own screen after a renovation as long as the glass is to Australian standards. However, if your sizes have change and your screen is to large, you may find that we are unable to re-use the old screen if it is toughened glass because it cannot be cut.
Q: What is the thickness of the glass used in Shower Screens?
A: In a framed or semi frameless shower screen you will find Laminated glass which is 6.38mm thick or toughened glass which is 5 or 6mm thick. For a fully frameless shower screen we use 10mm toughened glass.
Q: I have a leaking shower but don't know exactly where the leak is coming from. What can be done?
A: We can only help stop leaks where the leak is coming between the frame and the tiles or base. Should there be a crack in the base or the tiles, or where the leak is behind the tile work, then you will need a specialized tradesman.
